ETHICDRIVE / Understand the response before deciding.

Understand the result of your check

A reported opposition, no opposition reported, or a check without a response: understand the difference and the limits of the result.

Start with the registration number and date

Before reading the status, compare every part of the displayed registration number with the number you want to check. A reversed digit or a different letter may identify another registration. A readable response is not enough: it must match your input and the vehicle concerned exactly.

The displayed date records when this check took place. It does not indicate when an opposition was recorded or when NARSA last updated the file. Keep this distinction in mind if you return to a saved copy of the result later.

When an opposition is reported

“Opposition reported” means that the response received from the NARSA checking service reports an opposition for the registration number submitted. EthicDrive displays that report. The available result does not explain the cause, any associated amount, the organisation responsible, or the steps required for that particular file.

Do not infer these details from the colour of the result or the registration number. After checking your input, follow the link to the official service to continue your enquiry with NARSA. EthicDrive cannot change the file or request the removal of an opposition.

When no opposition is reported

“No opposition reported” describes the response received for this registration number at the time of the check. This wording is deliberately precise: it refers to the reporting of an opposition in that response, without guaranteeing a future status or answering every question about the vehicle.

This check does not provide accident history, mileage, mechanical condition, or the identity of the owner. It is not a complete vehicle history, an expert assessment, or an official certificate. If you are preparing to buy a vehicle, these other matters still need to be checked separately with the appropriate people or organisations.

When the check does not produce a result

An unavailable service, a timeout, or an unusable response never means “no opposition”. It means that no usable result was obtained. Check the fields if an input error is shown. If the service is unavailable, wait before trying again or use the official service.

You can save an obtained result to read it again later. The file records a check at a particular time; downloading it does not make it an official document. Share it only with the people concerned, and always check the registration number and date before referring to it.
